WELCOME | Songsofscripture

Songs of Scripture is a collective effort to use music to learn the Word of God. As Christians, we are charged to “speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in our hearts to the Lord...” (Ephesians 5:19).

Our YouTube channel will aid in finding songs that directly quote Bible verses. Our Facebook group “Songs of Scripture ” allows members to post links/videos to songs, or even submit original compositions that use verbatim scripture as lyrics. Pooling our resources, we aim to use this project and its content to God's glory!

WHO IS INVOLVED IN THIS PROJECT?

It all starts with the verbatim word of God, to God’s glory. In a search of the internet, we were able to track down composers who were already writing songs that directly quote the Bible. Check our "Resources" page for links to some of the amazing projects bringing glory to God through music that highlights His word!

HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?

Do you have a Bible verse you’d like to memorize? Maybe a melody can help you get the words to stick! We can point you in the direction of a song that already exists. If there's no song available for the verse you're trying to learn, we have composers available who may be able to create a new song as a resource for you!

Does your congregation want to learn scripture together in song? Sheet music is available for some of our brand new songs. Contact us at SongsOfScripturePublishing@Gmail.com to request a song or a chart, or to give us your idea of how we can help you!

YOU CAN HELP!

Send us a song we missed, or even compose your own song to God using verbatim scripture! As of March 2020, we have about 800 verses covered, which means we’re still missing over 30,000 verses! If you know of a song that quotes a scripture verse, send us a link or file so we can add it to our compiled list.

Musicians are encouraged to submit their own songs that directly quote scripture. The lyrics are already written in the Bible. To aid in memorizing, we suggest repeating the verse or a piece of the passage 3 times, and including the reference in the lyrics. Send whatever you’re comfortable with:

• An audio or video link or file of the song being performed anywhere from your living room to your church, concert hall, or subway platform.

• A lyric sheet complete with chords.

• Sheet music with just the melody written out.

• Sheet music with full parts written for your choice of instrumentation.

Most importantly, please PRAY for the project to be a blessing and to bring glory to God! Pray for guidance in how He wants us to serve and to operate.
